Reflection on previous work & what I’ve learnt

“The only safe thing is to take a chance”

—  Mike Nicholls

During the two years at college and now coming to the end of my first trimester at university I’ve gained many skills that will help contribute to my goal of being a filmmaker. I’ve gained experience in a variety of aspects such as, editing, filming, producing and directing.

Throughout my time learning about the film industry I have composed a corporate video, music video, promotional production, documentary and short film.

Palette Music Video:

Palette was a music video I had to work on in my first year of college and is one of my favourite pieces. The reason why it’s my most proudest piece because of the story behind it. I had planned everything for this shoot in advance with my set crew and to be filmed over the period of three days, on the shoot day all of my crew had let me down. This put me in a really sticky situation however I persevered, I gathered a group of my friends last minute and made do last minute with what I had. The MV turned out better than planned and instead of filming over three days we finished in one day and this proved to myself that I work best under pressure and can deal with anything thrown my way. I also learnt that the industry is anything but easy as it requires dedication, hard work and creativity and I believe that I carry all three.

The MV was a creative and artistic aesthetic video to a Korean song, lots of vibrant colour yet still holding a minimalistic vibe.
